The Citcom.ai (AI Testing and Experimentation Facility for Smart and Sustainable Cities and Communities) project is creating one of four European artificial intelligence testing and experimentation centres (AI TEF) – a flagship initiative of the European Commission under the Digital Europe programme. The CitCom.ai project is being implemented by 34 partners from 11 European countries. These include universities, research and development units, municipal organisations, testing centres and technology companies. The activities are coordinated by IMEC, a leading European research centre in the field of nanoelectronics and digital technologies based in Belgium.
The Warsaw University of Technology, represented by the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography, plays an important role in the CONNECT component of the project, which focuses on local infrastructure and the integration of cross-sector services. The work is carried out at the Centre for Geospatial and Satellite Analysis (CENAGIS), with the support of modern computing clusters.
The results of the project will be applicable in urban policy as well as in the activities of SMEs, start-ups and research and development institutions. They will benefit, among others, cities implementing smart city solutions, public institutions, and companies developing AI and robotics technologies.
CitCom.ai’s main goal is to accelerate the development of ethical, transparent and sustainable AI solutions for smart cities, while strengthening European technological sovereignty.
